Marti Elder, Lead Consultant

Marti Elder is an accomplished independent business consultant with a primary focus in the development and commercialization of innovations. She has achieved a Certified Licensing Professional (CLPTM) designation and was recognized with a 2011 Tibbetts Individual Award for excellence as a service provider in the SBIR/STTR programs. Elder has worked with hundreds of small businesses to cultivate and execute reasonable commercial strategies for their intellectual property.

Elder's background in technology management began in the Montana R&D industry as the business director of YES Technologies. During her tenure, YES achieved millions of dollars of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funding, prosecuted dozens of patents, and negotiated licenses for their proprietary mining, packaging, software and sensor technologies. This experience formed the foundation for Elder's consulting practice as Marti Elder Inc., started in 1999. Companies benefiting from her direct assistance have achieved SBIR/STTR research and development Phase I, II and III awards totaling well over $10M per year since 2005.

As an "inventor mentor" to innovators on three continents, and a licensing manager on behalf of the U.S. Department of Defense, Elder helps clients to maximize the potential of their intellectual property and has contributed to over 150 completed licenses. Her articles have been published by the leading National publications for inventing, including PatentCafe.Com and Inventors' Digest.
